Frequently Asked Questions

How is an Asian handicap defined?

The Asian handicap is a market structure that removes the draw result by assigning a goal handicap to one side. Developed in Asian betting markets, it produces more balanced odds and allows for refunds (pushes) on specific results.

How does a quarter handicap function?

Quarter handicaps (0.25, 0.75, 1.25, and so on) divide your stake evenly across two neighbouring lines. For instance, -0.75 allocates half the stake to -0.5 and half to -1.0. The outcome can therefore be a half-win or a half-loss.

What is the effect of a push?

A push arises on whole-number handicaps when the adjusted score is exactly level, and the full stake is returned. On quarter handicaps, one half can push while the other half wins or loses, producing a partial return.

How should Asian handicap lines be interpreted?

A negative handicap (such as -1.5) requires the side to win by more than that margin. A positive handicap (such as +1.5) lets the side lose by under that margin and still cover. A zero handicap (0) equals ‘Draw No Bet’ — a draw returns the stake.
